The Florida Gators secured their 14th commitment for the Class of 2025 on Sunday evening, landing a highly regarded in-state prospect. Receiver Naeshaun Montgomery, a 6’1″, 185-pound standout from Miami Central High School, chose Florida over LSU and Penn State.
Montgomery was particularly drawn to Florida due to Head Coach Billy Napier’s background in coaching receivers and the proven success of Wide Receivers Coach Billy Gonzales. “It was great just knowing as a head coach he knows how to develop receivers as well as Coach Gonzales, and I really like the history they have with all the receivers,” Montgomery said.
During his official visit to Gainesville, Montgomery had the opportunity to connect with quarterback DJ Lagway, which played a significant role in his decision. “It means a lot, mainly because without a good quarterback you really can’t do nothing as a receiver,” Montgomery explained. “Every time I met with DJ he really just said he wants me and he wants me to be his X receiver.”
The Gators’ coaching staff’s consistent communication with Montgomery was also a crucial factor in his commitment. “Really like their communication. They never stop texting me, they check on my family, and that’s really like my main thing,” Montgomery said.
Montgomery’s commitment is a significant addition to Florida’s recruiting class, as the Gators continue to build a strong foundation for the future.
Montgomery is the third wide receiver commitment for the Gators in the Class of 2025, joining Vernell Brown III and Joshua Moore. This trio adds significant depth and talent to Florida’s receiving corps, bolstering their future offensive potential. With Montgomery’s addition, the Gators are assembling a strong group of playmakers to support their offensive strategy moving forward.
