On Monday, the Florida Gators basketball team secured a significant commitment from a legacy recruit who has rapidly ascended in the recruiting rankings. Small forward CJ Ingram, a 6’6″, 195-pound prospect from Orlando’s Oak Ridge High School, chose Florida over several other schools.
Ingram, the son of former Gators tight end Cornelius Ingram, who won two national championships at Florida, expressed his excitement about continuing his family’s legacy. In his commitment video, he said, āA lot of people say Iām just continuing a legacy so with that being said I will begin my own legacy but you know where only where Gators get out alive, in the Swamp.ā
Despite receiving multiple football offers, including one from Florida, Ingram has decided to focus solely on basketball. Last season, he earned the Florida Dairy Famers Class 1A Player of the Year award as a quarterback and also had an impressive basketball season, averaging 24 points, 8 assists, and 3 rebounds per game.
Ingram’s decision to concentrate on basketball this spring has led to several major offers and a rise to a four-star recruit status, thanks to a standout performance at camps throughout the spring and summer. His commitment is a notable addition to Florida’s basketball program, bringing both talent and a strong family connection to the Gators.
