MILWAUKEE — Until recently, Anthony Rizzo had only hit one home run in his first 23 games of the season and had a total of 296 homers in his career. However, in just six games, he managed to reach a significant milestone.
During Sunday’s 15-5 victory over the Brewers at American Family Field, Rizzo slammed his 300th career home run, becoming the 161st player in MLB history to achieve this feat. Reflecting on this achievement, Rizzo expressed his appreciation for the journey and the difficulty of reaching such milestones. He credited the team’s offensive performance over the past two days for contributing to the accomplishment.

Rizzo’s milestone home run, a two-run shot off Brewers right-hander Janson Junk, was part of an impressive performance, where he went 4-for-4, including two doubles and a walk, and scored three runs.
At 34 years old and in his 14th MLB season, Rizzo was able to retrieve the ball for his collection after it landed in the Yankees bullpen. His teammate Aaron Judge praised Rizzo’s impact on the team, highlighting his work ethic, leadership, and competitive spirit.
Joining the ranks of the 12th active players with at least 300 home runs, Rizzo’s achievement is particularly noteworthy given his resurgence after a challenging previous season disrupted by post-concussion syndrome. His recent performance, marked by a significant improvement in batting average, OPS, and home runs, underscores his return to form and consistency at the plate.
Rizzo emphasized the importance of finding and maintaining a good hitting position and consistency in his approach to the game. Manager Aaron Boone praised Rizzo’s milestone, acknowledging the rarity and significance of reaching 300 home runs in a career, especially at the level of excellence Rizzo has consistently demonstrated throughout his career.
